THESE pages are dedicated to the Impersonal and Mystical work of the author Henry Thomas Hamblin, 1873-1958, who was a spiritual teacher and writer living in England, whose message and vision were straightforward and pragmatic.
He believed that the spiritual life and practical daily life were inseparable. His teachings centered around the power of thought and the importance of meditation to tap into the inner power, wisdom and love that we all have deep within us. Henry Thomas Hamblin referred to this as the "secret place of the Most High" in the days before the concept of meditation became well known.
The essence of Hamblin's mystical experience and philosophy was the Omnipresence, Omnipotence and absolute goodness of God ("The Kingdom or Empire of God is with us now and always").
He knew that "abundant health, ample provision, success, and indescribable joy are the normal state of man" and that to achieve this state one needs to enter into "harmony with cosmic law."
Over time, the emphasis of Hamblin's writings shifted from showing people how to change their lives through right thinking and faith, to teaching them how to find within themselves the living consciousness of God.
While his teachings leaned towards esoteric Christianity, his philosophy was truly universal, embracing the truths of all faiths. The emphasis of his message is on finding the power of spirituality within us all, in the context of our daily lives, rather than religion. As a young man, he reacted against the dogma of his strictly religious upbringing, believing that religion often divides people while spirituality unites them.
He experienced poverty and ill health in his early life and served in World War I, but it was the death of his young son in 1918 that caused him to hit rock bottom and give birth to his vision.
His teachings came from a place of pure empathy and compassion for humanity.
